DESIGN PHILOSOPHY
LMAL, founded in 1978, emphasizes a collaborative approach to achieving excellence in design. Our goal is to produce buildings that are sensitive to local site conditions and to the global environment, while ensuring that practical aspects such as building envelope integrity, systems design, functionality, and cost are not compromised. Our work speaks to the local context of community, culture, and site, and is characterized by the use of local materials and attention to detail.

COMMITMENTS
• direct and continuous control of projects by the principals of the firm
responsive design resolution of user & community needs
• total communication with all team members (clients, users, authorities, consultants, community)
• successful control of scheduling & budget integration of facilities programming into our basic services
• development of staff and consultant resources with superior experience and skills

INTEGRATED DESIGN APPROACH
Our principal and associates practice within a firm that is sized appropriately to allow personal involvement, and work closely with their staff on all projects from start to finish. Our integrated design approach values client/user input throughout the design process and ensures that all team members are actively involved and aware of the challenges facing other disciplines from the outset. Sustainable design and planning workshops at the beginning of the project ensure that clients and consultants have a chance to voice their goals for the direction of the project; this inclusive process helps build consensus and support for decisions made throughout the design process.

PRODUCT - FITTING QUALITY
Attention to detail is a hallmark of the firm's work. Forms, materials and their detailing are brought together as an integrated whole to match program and budget. We are committed to socially responsive architecture which responds not only to the site and program, but also addresses issues in environmentally appropriate design.
